Here are some of the best strategies to use while leveling up your Barbarian to 60, they will help you get to Inferno fast.

  1. Elective Mode:  First off be sure that you are aware of Elective Mode and set it up so you can use it.  Elective mode allows you to assign any of the skills you have to any of your keys.  To set it up you’ll need to go to Options to Gameplay to Interface and check the box for Elective Mode.  Essentially with Elective Mode you can have whatever skills you’d like up at the same time, so you can have as many damage skills as you want or leach skills, and so on.
  2. Weapons:  As for weapons, don’t get so caught up on what the best weapon type to use is.  There will be times when you use a two-handed weapon, a one-handed weapon and a shield, or even dual wield two one-handed weapons.  Use what’s best for you at the time, based off your current survive-ability, play style, and what you can find in the Auction House.
  3. Gems:  At the very least be sure that you have a socketed helm with a Ruby in it, which will increase the amount of experience you get while leveling.  For best results use the highest level Ruby you can get your hands on for maximum experience gain.
  4. Follower:  I encourage you to try out all the Followers if you haven’t leveled up a character before, just to get a feel for each of them.  For Normal and lower levels you’ll probably find that you can use any Follower you want but once you reach the higher levels you might want to stick with the Templar for heals.
  5. Buy Gear:  Be sure to frequently visit the Auction House as you level to get new gear. This is something that you really don’t want to not do because having the best gear will save you a lot of time because the amount of damage you do and the amount of Vitality you gain will help you cruise through levels fast.
  6. Stats:  For stats you’ll want to work on Strength and Vitality.  While Strength is your primary stat you’ll want to balance with Vitality in accordance with your need for more  health.  If you find yourself dying a lot you’ll probably want to stock up on more Vitality.  On the other hand, if you find yourself not doing enough damage but rarely dying you’ll likely want more Strength.  For secondary stats you’ll probably want to focus on Life Leach, which turns a percentage of your damage into health.
