This guide is updated for patch 4.3.

Here are The Noob School’s top zones for mining tin. If your character is a lower level check the levels to see what level mobs are found in each zone. Also, make sure your mining is at least 65 before you attempt to mine tin.

Where to Mine Tin in Hillsbrad Foothills

Hillsbrad Foothills: Levels 20-25

Start off your tin farming by going to Hillsbrad Foothills. This zone has a really good amount of tin and I would recommend you try it first over all others because I have had a lot of success with it. The actual loop to run in this zone is actually pretty small in comparison to the size of the zone, what this means to you is that there is more ore in a smaller area. The area circled in the middle (the Ruins of Alterac) is a very good area to stick around. You’ll find lots of nodes here and there are caves you can go into too. I would stay in this area as much as you can because it’s probably the best in the zone.

Where to Mine Tin in Ashenvale

Ashenvale: Levels 20-25

Ashenvale is another good zone to farm tin ore in. This zone is not as good as Hillsbrad Foothills, but I like to include other options because the best zone to farm in might not always be the best for you to farm in. The loop in Ashenvale is relatively simple. Follow the lines on the map and you’ll be taken by the majority of the nodes. If you venture into the northeastern part of the zone (which doesn’t have a route) you’ll run into a lot of copper ore, which is why I didn’t include it on this map since it is for tin. You are more than welcome to run up to that area if you need copper too or come to this zone a bit too early.
